Fast Credit Repair Claims

A credit report is a very valuable financial indicator of an individual’s credit history and current standing with creditors. A credit report will provide a listing of what creditors the individual has been financially involved with, the date the account was established and what the credit limit is on that account. In addition, the credit report will list whether the account is in good standing or is in arrears. Other information will include employment information, residential addresses and what inquiries have been made on the credit report within the last year.

Having a good credit report is critical. This is because a number of financial decisions can be made based upon this report. Some of those financial decisions will determine the interest rates that you will get for loans, employment opportunities or what insurance rates will be offered. Sometimes, due to circumstances beyond a person’s control, events or financial decisions happen that can adversely affect their credit report.

If in need of fast credit repair, it is important to remember to be aware of the pitfalls that are associated with companies that offer fast credit repair help. Some of those pitfalls include associated fees, deceptive practices and other warning signs.

Associated Fees

It is important to be aware of the fact that there are a number of companies that offer fast credit repair. Some of these companies maybe fraudulent in their business practices.

A possible indication that a company may not be entirely above board are exorbitant fees that they require. Some of these incurred fees could be expenses that are charged for things that you as a consumer could do for yourself. Examples of such fees could be a considerable charge expensed out to you to compile a budget, obtaining your credit report or contacting the credit report company to correct any mistakes.

Deceptive Practices

Some fast credit repair companies may engage in and recommend actions that may be dishonest. Some examples of these types of recommendations from a fast credit repair company include falsifying information on loan applications or creating an alternate identity.

Another common tactic of a disreputable fast credit repair company is the practice of holding your payments to a creditor in an escrow account on your behalf. The proposal is to let that accumulated amount grow and when the amount is equal to the indebtedness the account will be paid. However, during this process, the unscrupulous fast credit repair company takes out of the account their administrative fees. Eventually, due to the lack of payment, the creditor may increase the interest rate and consider legal action in order to satisfy the indebtedness.

Other Warning Signs

There are a variety of other warnings signs associated with fast credit repair companies that are not looking out for your interests. First, of all do not allow companies to pressure you into contracts or indicate that a contract they are wishing you to sign is standard legal language. Read the contract carefully before signing.

There are no real shortcuts to fast credit repair. Therefore, if a company promises to help you repair your credit and it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Also, as a consumer you have rights that are associated with your credit reporting. A reputable company that claims to help you with fast credit repair will advise you of those rights. If they do not or if the disclosure of this information doesn’t seem to be a priority, this is probably a company to avoid.
